Thesis Brian
America needs Immigration Reform because the current laws on immigration can only cover a certain amount of problems that come with modern-day immigration; for example current laws cannot give immigrants citizenship in a reasonable amount of time, which means there are millions of immigrants which do not pay taxes and it is hurting our economy.
Background Jose
The Immigration and Naturalization Act of 1965 had a new goal pertaining to immigration, it’s goal was to reunite families and bring in skilled workers. Most of the new coming immigrants were from Asia, Africa, and Latin America. When a terrorist attack was made on American soil on September ll, 2001 the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) was set up and took over many immigration services rather than the INS being in charge. Non-citizens can enter the United States (legally) in two ways; they can either receive temporary residency or receive permanent citizenship.
Evidence #1 Marco
Many tech-industry leaders have become prominent supporters of immigration reform, arguing their companies rely on foreign talent, particularly in high-demand STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) fields. They argue that if skilled workers—many of whom are educated in U.S. universities—are not permitted to work in the United States, some tech companies may be forced to move their operations offshore. This evidence shows that many companies rely on the brain and labor of their immigrant employees, so if many intelligent immigrant are being deported and companies can't make money because they lost valuable
Evidence#2 Brian
"Nevertheless, the great wave of Hispanic migration our nation has witnessed over the past fifty years is increasingly looking like a success. Hispanic Americans have made particularly significant economic strides in recent years. The public has rejected the worst of the GOP’s attacks on undocumented immigrants in the U.S., and appear accepting of the far more diverse America of the 21st century. The economic experiment of expanding our trade relations with Mexico has produced exploding levels of trade between our two countries, and an historic era of modernization and progress in Mexico itself." This shows that immigrants have helped us a lot and it is better to have them in the United States legally.

Counter Claim Marco
Many people would say that the United States doesn't need this type of reform because many of the immigrants are ruining the economy because they don't pay taxes and they use up the money of the tax payers. However this is wrong because many immigrants can't pay taxes because they can't get descent jobs and pay taxes, also many immigrants can take care of them selves but as mentioned before they can't get decent jobs that can help the economy.
Significance Shawn
In conclusion the Immigration Reform is significant because it cause a huge impact for immigrants. One reason that it cause a huge impact is that some farmers could now use immigrants so they could help them pick fruits for them in their farm. Today now some farmers are using them so they could make money out of them but that doesn't mean that they are there slaves they just want to work so the immigrant could get paid for doing their job.
